Elspeth grew up in Bingley and has a law degree from Birmingham University.
After qualifying as a Solicitor with a high street firm in Bedford in 1986 she joined a specialist commercial property firm in London dealing with high value shopping centre and city centre retail properties and specialising in shared ownership sales for housing associations before moving back to Yorkshire in 1989.
In 1993 she set up her own firm with two local solicitors in the York area, dealing with a wide variety of general legal work including residential and commercial property, divorce, litigation, personal injury until deciding to specialise in residential property in 2001 eventually becoming head of residential conveyancing for a large York firm in 2007.
With her family grown up Elspeth moved back to her West Yorkshire roots and joined the firm in March 2013 and is now head of the residential property department. She has a varied caseload – sales and purchases with particular emphasis on leasehold transactions, including retirement properties, both locally and throughout the country, re-mortgages, equity release loans and transfers of equity. With her previous general practice background Elspeth is particularly well placed to advise on transactions resulting from matrimonial settlements, following a bereavement and understanding the needs of elderly clients and their families.
Elspeth enjoys providing a professional and personal service tailored to each client’s needs and expectations.
Elspeth lives in Otley with her husband, within walking distance of both the office and the Chevin and enjoys living in such a beautiful, vibrant and interesting town. She is a director of the Otley BID and since moving here has developed connections with the Otley business community in addition to the families and individuals for whom she acts.
In her spare time Elspeth enjoys running, walking and yoga and plays the piano and saxophone.
