A native of the Wharfe Valley, Oliver lives in Otley having grown up in nearby Burley-in-Wharfedale. Grammar School educated, he went on to obtain a Law degree at Northumbria University, which included experience working in their Student Law Office. This involved preparing and advising clients on real cases, the highlight of which was him carrying out his own advocacy in front of a District Judge at Newcastle County Court.
Following graduation, Oliver spent 3 years at one of the big commercial banks in Leeds, working in the Corporate Finance Department and also working on the front line, dealing directly with customers. This provided a good commercial grounding which required good teamwork and problem solving. He trained with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in September 2015. He is a solicitor who works in the Residential Property Department, specialising in freehold sales and purchases.
Oliver has a particular interest in working with people and likes to obtain a good outcome for clients. Managing clients’ expectations, together with good communication skills with Estate Agents and other solicitors Oliver believes are very important to ensure the conveyancing process works effectively. Deadlines can become tight and therefore Oliver can effectively negotiate with all parties to a conveyancing transaction. Good and effective client care is one of his core values.
Outside of work, Oliver is a sports enthusiast with particular interests in football, golf and rugby. He is a supporter of Leeds United and is a past junior captain at Otley Golf Club.
