David Louden :: Managing Partner ::

Born in Harrogate, David was educated at Ashville College and is an honours graduate in law of Leeds University. He worked in Leeds for some years and joined the firm in 1980. He is married with three sons and lives in Burley in Wharfedale. He is an outdoor sports enthusiast in general and a golfer in particular. His primary responsibility is for the firm's commercial work including commercial property and for managing the practice as a whole. In addition he undertakes some domestic property matters. He is the firm's Senior and Managing Partner.

 

Helen Thornton :: Partner ::

Helen came to the firm from a successful legal career in London when she moved to Otley with her family in 1989. Born and brought up in Leeds, she obtained an honours degree in history from St. Hilda's College, Oxford and qualified as a solicitor in 1978. She now specialises in conveyancing and wills and the administration of estates. Helen is well known in the town for her involvement in a wide range of community activities.

 

Robert Meadows :: Partner ::


Originally from Clitheroe, Robert went on from Grammar School to obtain a Law degree at Aberystwyth University before beginning his legal career in Birmingham, where he qualified in 1991 and continued to practise until 1996. At that point he decided his spiritual home lay in the North, and moved to a commercial property practice in Leeds before joining us in February 2006. Robert has many years of property expertise, including landlord and tenant, commercial, non-contentious construction and general conveyancing experience. He lives in Ilkley, is married with three children and enjoys sport (particularly cycling) and art.

 

 

Katharine Baker :: Partner::

Katharine moved to Leeds from London in 2001, where she had been a solicitor specialising in litigation. Born in West Sussex, she obtained an honours degree in History and Art History at Cambridge and later completed her studies in law in London. Katharine is experienced in all kinds of civil and family litigation, including advocacy, and conducts the court based work at the firm. She is also experienced in accident claims, and is a trained Collaberative lawyer. Katharine lives with her husband and three children in Rawdon. She is a keen tennis player and a parent governor of a school in Horsforth.


Cathy Armitage :: Associate ::

Cathy has an honours degree in Spanish from Durham University and qualified as a solicitor in 1992. She specialises in Wills, Probate and Trusts and has a particular interest in problems corncerning elderly clients such as Inheritance Tax planning, funding residential care and powers of attorney. She lives locally with her husband and children. She is a school governor at St. Joseph's School, Otley.
