David is a Consultant (Non-Practising) having recently stepped down as Managing Partner for the last 25 years. David joined the firm in 1980 as an assistant solicitor, he moved his family directly into the area from previous locations in Leeds and the family home in nearby Harrogate, and was invited to join the partnership in 1982. Progression was rapid, and he became an equity partner two years later, before going on to represent the firm as Senior and Managing Partner .
From a fee earning point of view, past legal experience included litigation, crime and specialist child care law, each of which involved doing his own advocacy in courts up to and including The High Court and Courts Martial, which required a solid background in detailed preparation, analysis and understanding in every case. For the last 30 years, these skills have proved very beneficial as David has become a property specialist, incorporating the firm’s commercial property work, some residential property matters, and a wide variety of variations within those themes.
A native of nearby Harrogate, David was educated at Ashville College and is an honours graduate in law of Leeds University. Married with three grown up sons, he now lives in Burley in Wharfedale. He is an outdoor sports enthusiast and particular interests include skiing as often as possible, shooting, golfing with friends and family, cricket, football, rugby (both codes) and horse racing.
