Originally from Leeds, David moved to the Wharf Valley after joining Newstead & Walker in 2014 and quickly established himself in the local community.
David obtained a law degree from the University of Hull and completed the Legal Practice Course at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2001 before qualifying as a Solicitor in 2004. David had experience in several different firms in residential conveyancing and family work before specialising in private client work.
David is the head of the private client department and a fully qualified member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is committed to ensure the firm provides a high quality, professional and personal service to our clients
David has a wide range of experience in private client matters, and advises regarding Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney documents, Estate Planning and Court of Protection Work. David also works with the firm’s long standing business and agricultural clients to provide succession planning and tax advice.
Recently David has dealt with increasing Court of Protection applications due to our vulnerable and ageing population, and has advised clients regarding the ever changing inheritance tax regime and planning for the future.
Accustomed to working under pressure in a busy department, David enjoys the variety of private client work at Newstead & Walker. Client satisfaction is of paramount importance to everyone at the firm.
Married with three children, David enjoys playing all sports, especially football, cricket and golf (very badly). The highlight of his football career after representing Leeds City Boys in his younger days was trials with Sheffield Wednesday.
