Susan originates from Nantwich in Cheshire and is qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. She commenced her career in the legal profession in 2002 with a South Cheshire firm and qualified as a Fellow in 2012. She worked out of the market town of Sandbach to eventually head up the residential property team. During this time she also managed sales on behalf of a local authority in the sale of their housing stock for Right to Buy and /Right to Acquire sales.
In 2014 following frequent visits to West Yorkshire, she fell in love with the diversity and charm of the area and relocated to Menston for enhanced career opportunities and to be closer to her daughter. Took a role with a leading West Yorkshire law firm. Based in Leeds city centre she specialised in all aspects of residential transactions – sales, purchases, transfer of equity and re mortgages for freehold and leasehold properties.
In this role she developed a relationship with a London housing association, attending their site launch and offered a workshop for potential buyers of shared ownership new build properties. Her focus on delivering a high standard of service to first time buyers. She became an Associate in 2014 and managed the Leeds residential property team.
Looking for a firm with an ethos that matches her own in providing excellent customer service, Susan joined Newstead & Walkers’ residential property department in September 2021.
Still in Menston, she lives with her husband, both of them taking a keen interest in the local community and supporting local businesses. With many friends and family wanting to stay, Susan says her “hotel” in Menston is rarely closed. When not working she loves showing off the beautiful area of Wharfdale, walks with her dog on the Chevin, Wharfdale valley, Ilkey moors and beyond, leisure cycling (the none competitor type!), live music and gardening.
